PIK Jakarta (Pantai Indah Kapuk) is a famous housing estate in Northern Jakarta. Recently it has expanded to the reclamation islands of Golf and Ebony Island. Today, PIK has developed many tourist attractions here, mainly themed clusters of shops and restaurants.
Thanks to the rapid developments in PIK Jakarta, today, PIK has plenty of tourist destinations. Except for the PIK mangrove forest and beaches, many of them are shopping and dining experiences, but they are all picturesque and instagrammable :)
Pantjoran PIK Jakarta looks like a replica of China traditional houses with a Pagoda as the landmark. The area is big enough to accommodate dozens of food vendors selling Chinese and non-Chinese foods, cold desserts, and beverages. More varieties of food are offered in the shophouses behind it. Pantjoran PIK opens daily from 07AM to 11PM.
Another place for hanging out in PIK Jakarta is Cove at Batavia. The location is between the waterfront and Pantjoran PIK. Many establishments here are restaurants and cafes; selling various types of food, from sushi to pizza and gelato. Some of them also sell alcoholic beverages. Every business has a unique look, especially Talassa, where you can dine in a phinisi boat! Batavia Cove opens daily from 09.00-23.00.
San Antonio Promenade is a waterfront shop-houses complex in PIK Jakarta. Many of them are converted into cafes and restaurants. San Antonio Promenade has a wide pedestrian walk, so people can enjoy leisurely walks, ride a bicycle, rent an electric scooter, or rent a tiny battery-operated car.
Since Golf Island in PIK Jakarta is a reclamation island, Pantai Maju doesn’t have natural sandy beaches. It has a wide pedestrian walk instead, which is perfect for selfies, jogging, and cycling. You can rent bicycles and small battery-operated cars here. Pantai Maju opens from 8.00 until 22.00 from Monday to Thursday. It opens until midnight during weekends.
Pantai Pasir Putih (white sandy beach in English) in Pantai Indah Kapuk instantly became a famous tourist destination in Jakarta because this is the first white sandy beach in Jakarta! The sand originated from Bangka Belitung beach. Here you can enjoy the view, take as many selfies as you want, and play on the sand, but you are not allowed to swim. Plus, there is a kids club and a food court with a stage for live music. This beach opens daily from 3pm until 9pm.
Located at Pantai Maju in Golf Island PIK Jakarta, Urban Farm is an open-air mall with a ‘back to nature’ concept. In addition to the instagrammable spots, there are plenty of cafes you can dine in and a visit to Kinetic Farm, which sells herbal, organic, and hydroponic veggies. It opens from 9am to 9pm on weekdays and from 7am to 9pm on weekends.
By The Sea got its name due to its location on one of the waterfronts in the Golf Island, PIK Jakarta. Unlike other shopping malls in Jakarta, By The Sea is only one floor, with open-air corridors and plenty of sunlight from the glass roof. It is a fashion district with the concept of a “Tropical shopping paradise by local brands.” Hence, the clothing shops here are from local brands, interspersed with food and beverage shops. The opening hours of By The Sea are 10am to 10pm from Mondays to Thursdays and 10am to 11pm from Fridays to Sundays.
A designated area for food vendors, from the more permanent ones in the food stalls and tents, to more portable ones, such as food trucks and food carts. The vendors offer hundreds of menus, from local dishes, such as satay to international foods, including ramen, churros, kebab, hotdogs, etc. Of course, they offer various drinks and desserts, such as coffees, fresh juices, cane sugar, soft drinks, and ice creams. Food Street PIK opens daily from 2pm until 11 pm.
Close to Pantjoran PIK and right in front of the PIK icon, Central Market is another shopping center in PIK Jakarta. It has various tenants, including F&B, arts and crafts, coffee shops, bakeries, and a supermarket. It boasts its eco-friendly concept, namely the use of solar panels, having plenty of plants inside the mall, and its design enables a natural cross-ventilation system. Central Market opens daily from 10am to 11pm.
A grand shopping mall at Jalan Pantai Indah Utara I no.6, the PIK Avenue Mall positioned itself as a premium retail space for local and international brands. The location is conveniently next to Mercure Hotel and Swissotel. PIK Avenue mall opens daily from 10.00-22.00.
Located at Jalan Marina Indah Raya no.1, PIK Jakarta, La Riviera PIK 2 has rows of shop houses lining up on both sides of a canal. The facade of these shop houses has a European look, creating an Amsterdam ambiance. The canal and gondola rides remind us of Venice. Due to its European look and feel, Oktoberfest (a German autumn festival) was held here in October 2022. Since La Riviera is a complex of shophouses, the area is open 24 hours daily. In general, the shops start at 10am.
This mangrove forest is an exception to the shopping and dining experience in PIK Jakarta. It has extensive walking paths, which help visitors to roam this mangrove forest comfortably. Continue reading the mangrove forest in Taman Wisata Alam Angke Kapuk Jakarta ...
Tokyo Hub is a lifestyle mall with a Japanese concept. The location is on the ground floor of the Tokyo Riverside apartment. It has two clusters of restaurants, both outdoors: Shinjuku street and Roppongi Lane. While vendors in Shinjuku Street sell street food, restaurants in Roppongi Lane offer a casual dining atmosphere with live music on weekends. Tokyo Hub opens daily from 9am to 9pm.
A modern market is a term we use for an upgraded traditional market. There are plenty of fresh veggies, fruits, and meats; without the dirty, dank, and foul odor, we used to experience in the traditional market. This modern market comprises Fresh Market with its Food Center in the morning (opens daily from 6am to 4pm) and Food Plaza that opens until late at night (opens daily from 7am to 10pm).
Do you think all those shopping and food vendors in PIK Jakarta are enough? Think again :) PIK Jakarta keeps developing. In 2023, they plan to open more tourist attractions. They are:
The most comfortable way to go to PIK Jakarta is using private cars (including taxis and online taxis) due to the easy access through Jakarta Outer Ring Road and Airport Toll Road. You also can access it from Jakarta Inner Ring Road and exit at Pluit. Of course, non-toll roads to PIK Jakarta are also available, but as expected, the traffic will be heavier here.
Public transports to PIK Jakarta are also available. The most direct one is the TransJakarta bus route 1A which serves Jakarta City Hall to Pantai Maju. There are several bus stops in Pantai Indah Kapuk, so you get off the bus depending on where you want to go. For example, if you want to go to Pantjoran PIK, you get off at the Food Street bus stop, then walk for about 250 meters.
PIK Jakarta also provides a free bus ride called Batavia Bus Tram. Its route is inside Pantai Indah Kapuk. One of the bus stops is in the front yard of Pantjoran PIK.
Golf and Ebony islands are connected to mainland PIK Jakarta through a series of bridges. Before you realize it, you are already on the next island. However, as soon as you get off your car or bus, you will feel it. Most of the time, the sun is scorching. On the rare occasion of rain, it will be a rainstorm. Thanks to the fully air-conditioned malls, this weather will not affect you much if you are indoors. But, if you want to enjoy the outdoors, early morning and late afternoon until evening is more enjoyable.
